Yay! Summerana announced this week’s Top Photographer of the Week winners, and I won one of the coveted spots with this gorgeous portrait of a beautiful Maine newborn baby girl. This week’s Top Photographers of the Week contest theme was “blue,” and this image was perfect! I’m not going to lie, this pose took some patience. But: as always the extra effort to make sure baby was super comfortable and sleepy paid off in this amazing photograph of her in this adorable shark bonnet and her little shark lovie looking like she’s swimming in the sea. Yes, this entire setup is available to clients. I always bring all of the props, backdrops, floors, and lighting that we need to capture the most perfect portraits of your newborn!

Being recognized for my newborn photography work is the best! 💙 As a photographer, knowing others are enjoying my art fills my heart and brings me so much joy. Why do I participate in photography competitions?
Every once in a while I jump in and submit an image into newborn and baby photography portrait competitions. I’m always learning, always growing as an artist, and I believe this is part of the improvement process: getting honest feedback on my work and how it might be improved. This particular photography contest is theme based, so it’s particularly fun to figure out which of my recent portraits might best fit the theme and be chosen as a winner!
About the Summerana Top Photographer of the Week Award
The Summerana Top Photographer of the Week award is an international portrait competition for all photographers, but typically the focus is on newborn, child, family, and maternity photography. The Summerana competition photographs are judged based on creativity, idea, composition, image design, and implementation. Summerana is a virtual academy, community, and magazine for photographers and creatives intersted in improving their art and business.
